How Fast Is Enough?

There are many factors that will impact the loading speed of your website. For example, the type of hosting, the quantity (and quality) of WordPress plugins, the number of 3rd party services, whether you’re serving ads and more. Basically, the more things your website tries to do the slower it will load.

This makes speed optimization a balancing act. It’s about finding the middle ground. Your website is a key business asset so it has to fulfill your business needs. Everything beyond that needs to be carefully weighed because it incurs a cost – speed.

As a general rule, you should  target a load time of 1-3 seconds. At less than 1-second, you pages will feel like they load instantly. Anything higher than 4-5 seconds will begin to hurt your business.

Before & After Speed Optimization

The following are a sampling of GTmetrix performance reports for websites I’ve worked on. When reading the report, it’s important to not focus entirely on the Performance Score grade. This metric is simply a guideline for suggesting performance improvements. A better indicator of speed is Fully Loaded Time. The best indicator is actual site speed, which you see with your eyes!

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes! I offer a full 100% money back guarantee if you aren’t satisfied with the work I performed for speeding up your website.

Each of my speed optimization plans covers one WordPress website.

I do offer bulk discounts for clients with more than one site.

Please contact me with more details and we’ll work out an arrangement. 😊

After you purchase one of my plans, you are taken to a form where I ask for some details about your website. Don’t worry, they’re easy questions!

Next, I log into your website and perform a complete site backup. I will then run several benchmarks and assess the current state of your website. I’m basically looking under the hood at this point.

Finally, I get to work! I keep a detailed log of every update and improvement I make to share with you afterwards.

I will also run post-optimization benchmarks so you can compare performance before and after. Of course, if I’ve done my job well you should immediately notice the speed boost with your own eyes. 😀

Once I have the details for accessing your website, optimizing a simple website takes about 1 business day. More complex or ecommerce websites can take 2-3 days.

Your images can also affect turnaround time because optimizing a large number of images can easily take 24-48 hours.

Before doing any work on your website, I will always create a complete site backup.

If anything should go wrong during the optimizing process, you can have the peace of mind knowing that nothing will be lost and your website will return back to normal.

The WordPress ecosystem has grown quite large in recent years which introduces the possibility of compatibility issues and other problems.

Fortunately, my 11+ years of WordPress experience will help me navigate around many of these pitfalls and have your website speeding along in no time!

Your host’s speed & performance will largely decide just how fast your website can load.

Assuming your host is performing reasonably well, your website will load (at most) in 3-seconds or less.

If you are on shared hosting or a host with known performance issues, you may want to consider purchasing my Speed Pro plan which includes free website migration. The host I use and recommend is Cloudways. They have plans that start as low as $10/mo.

Your third party assets, like Facebook pixels and chat bots, will also take a toll on your loading speed. This makes it a balancing act between website speed and functionality, as I describe in the “How Fast Is Enough?” section above.

Still Undecided?

All plans and services come with a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee. If I cannot resolve an issue or perform a service to your satisfaction, you will receive you money back. No risk, no long term contracts and you can cancel at any time.
